New Year's first week.

A belated Happy New Year to everyone.
The first week of the year, back to work.It was a crappy week, that I won't share with you.
What I will share is "Things students say and do",that might put a smile on your face.

Me: "Where do you find koala's?"
Jang Hoon: "In Europe."

Me: "What's your name?" (to a middle school student)
He: no answer, pulls his baseball cap lower.
Me: "What's your name?"
He: no answer.puts his hands on his head, covers the ears and shakes his head.
Me: "What's your name?" (now I'm losing it) "Do you have a name?"
He: he shakes his head.
Me: "No name?"
He: shakes the head again
Me: I asked him in Korean for his name.
He: Song Min
People, it takes a lot of patience and often it is frustrating to go through something like this. It's fun, though. As Paula used to say:"It's like pulling teeth".

Sometimes what you ask could be a little risky.I asked one student, who came in a little late,
"How are you?" and this was his reply:

"I'm ok.No teacher, I'm not ok.I'm very angry with my father because he drink much yesterday.I'm angry to him"
I had to steer away from this one,he was calmer by end of class.I did feel for him because he is so young.

I was also threatened in Japanese, to be hit on the head.A few of my classes had laughing fits, for simple things. It's great to see them laughing and holding their stomachs.I just had to wait for them to stop or join in.
Each day is the same, but you never know with the students.

I'll be posting some old pictures that I forgot to put up.Later.
