A night of ABBA

Barely two or three weeks in the country and there I got the call:"Do you want to go with?" Of course, I said yes. my friend, Desiree offered me a ticket to see "Mamma Mia". It was a musical, slash, love story, set around the famous ABBA tunes. The singers and actors were fantastic, from the UK. I could see no wrong. The story was sweet and touching. The cherry on top,was the totally glam, shiny silver and gold-respectively- one piece outfits.(Think Elvis) and the amazing silver knee-high platform boots! Geez, imagine how many people you could kick and not hurt your foot. What a wonderful night.
meanwhile, this thing did take long..so wait for the African edition.. in a day.

Yeah,yeah...

Let's pretend that I posted something yesterday and leave it at that..thanks to those guys and dolls that have peeped in.

Thinking of just starting a new blog...call it the African edition.
Must have changed my mind a thousand times in the last three months with regard to everything.
It was great to talk to Karen on Skype..although there was a DEE-lay that took forever, still.. we spoke. It was wonderful to talk to Matt also.I read that poor Yoshi is being trained again.

Meanwhile, I have photo's of the past weekend's activities and other pics. Laughed so much at the Comedy Festival and went whale watching the next day-Glorious weather too. Earlier this month we went to a Korean restaurant. I've been through many bottles of chilli sauce...only one came close to my satisfaction. Might be losing it with the chillies and not to mention the red wine.
Tell you again.

The Motherland

I won't bore you with the travel details of how long the flight took,etc...
One thing I will mention is that my guitar case had a 2-3cm cut in it..like it was thrown.
I was mad about that, but a close friend said, the case is there to protect the guitar-so it's ok.

Things have been weird, strange.I've been home for just over a week, seen some friends, see the family everyday.I was invited to see the "Mamma Mia" show on Saturday evening with my friend, Desiree, who provided the tickets. The show was amazing.
I'm seeing some friends who have been with me in Korea and that in itself is surreal.
Cravings for spicy food is high...planning to make a stop at the Korean store in Cape Town...to stock up on whatever there is.Might have to beg some people back in the land to send a box of goodies.
Otherwise, all things considered...I'm doing ok. Taking things slowly and going one day at a time.
Miss a lot of people and Cutey. I get the "So how does it feel to be back?" question a lot...(including " where are you from?")..I have a hard time answering that question..how does one feel? to be honest, I have no idea.
I feel happy to see gardens, Table mountain, listen to people speaking many languages.Confused, at the tv programs that have English subtitles and Xhosa, Afrikaans or some other African language in that one program. Stunned by the cost of things. Aware of the crime in the country. Surprised at the need to control and conserve electricity.(this would be another post). Feel like I have eaten too much at every meal. Feel frustrated at the thought that I don't have high speed Internet and it's so expensive here. Surprised at the animals at home. Xena is a 7 months old rottweiler puppy and she is as big a an adult dog.
These things take time, but what a journey.

Thanks to all those people who have emailed and sent so much love and positive energy.

Not giving up hope

The Cute One had a bath, which she didn't appreciate. She rather loved the fact that I let her run wild in the house, jumping on the couch, sliding and wetting the floors and trying to rip the life out of the towels. Plus the shaking-the-wet-head-and-body bit.
I just let her play,if it's that little bit that makes her happy, that's ok by me.She took charge and even had a bite of the flowers I received.

The search has been hectic and unsuccessful for finding her a home. However, she will be ok where she is.And I am leaving directions for friends who are helping.
Although I go home to 3 dogs and a parrot, this one will always be on my mind.
She will get that good home.

There's hope.

The task of packing, chucking and cleaning feels like it will never end.But soon that will be done.
My main goal to is find Cutie a home.So far two people have shown an interest.
I got the dog yesterday for a walk and again I asked the owners if I or a friend can take her, and they said yes.Even asked me, Why don't you take it to Africa? I won't be able to take her.
I'd feel happier knowing that she is in a good home. She deserves better than what she has now.
Keeping fingers crossed!

This hurts...

This evening, after about a week of madness at work-I decided to get Cutey and take her for a long walk.Thinking we both needed it.
She usually sits after me having to tell her 3 or 4 times. Not tonight-on the first one, she sat and got her snack.
She's usually hyper at the start of the walk-not tonight, she was calm all the time.
She likes playing with her stuffed fish toy- not tonight, she just wanted me to give her back and neck rubs. She didn't resist the hug I gave her.

This hurts because she has grown on me.I can't take her with me.I will ask a close friend for help with Cutey. She does need a better home.I just wonder if she can sense all of this.
It hurts, knowing that she will be tied up whole day and whole night, stuck with people who just want to give her away.
I will walk her as often as I can, give her a bath one day and let her play. Posted by Picasa
